Individuals in India are becoming increasingly interested in electric vehicles each year. But several still hold back due to battery concerns. Fears of battery breakdown and expensive replacement keep consumers at bay. Several automakers have now addressed the fear by presenting a lifetime battery warranty.

What is Lifetime Battery Warranty

Battery is the most critical component of an electric vehicle and also the costliest. Therefore, individuals fear that if the battery gets damaged in the early years, they will have to pay exorbitant repair bills. The new lifetime warranty on the battery eliminates this fear. According to this warranty, the original owner of the car will be provided with a complimentary repair or replacement of the battery if there is any fault, during the entire life of the vehicle.

MG Windsor EV with Lifetime Battery Warranty

MG entered the market with its Windsor EV offering a lifetime warranty for the initial customer to the battery. MG Windsor EV features two battery choices. One is a 38 kWh battery providing a range of 331 km. The second Windsor EV Pro features a 52.9 kWh battery pack that provides a range of 449 km on a single charge. Both these models come with a lifetime battery warranty for the initial owner. With this offering, Windsor EV competes with popular electric SUVs such as the Tata Nexon EV, Hyundai Creta EV, and Mahindra XUV400.

Tata EVs Get Lifetime Warranty Too

Tata Motors has also begun providing lifetime battery warranties on certain of its electric vehicles. The Harrier EV, Curvv EV, and Nexon EV 45 kWh model are among them. Tata’s Harrier EV and Curvv EV also deliver over 500 km of range. This is not a guarantee that the battery will never develop a fault but, if it does during the lifetime of the car, Tata will replace or repair it for the first owner.

Range and Warranty Advantages

Consumers will feel more assured to pick electric vehicles due to this lifetime warranty. MG Windsor EV provides up to a range of 449 km, whereas Tata’s new electric vehicles can travel 500 km. These ranges are sufficient for the daily driving requirements of most individuals. The lifetime warranty ensures owners do not need to pay lakhs on battery restoration or replacement in the future.

Peace of Mind for EV Buyers

These lifetime guarantees will reassure individuals who are still concerned about the cost of batteries. Such big players as MG and Tata making the move may convince more buyers to switch to electric cars. With lengthy driving ranges, robust features, and a lifetime battery guarantee, such new EVs are poised to leave a dent in India.
