FASTag Recharge: A big leap towards hassle-free highway driving is coming this Independence Day. From August 15, 2025, individual car owners can obtain a new FASTag-based annual pass for ₹3,000. This program ensures smoother rides and quicker toll crossings for India’s millions.
One-Year Validity or 200 Toll Crossings
This FASTag pass has a dual advantage: it remains effective for one complete year from the time of activation or for 200 toll plaza usages, whichever is earlier. Since it is meant for non-commercial vehicles such as cars, vans, and jeeps, the pass is intended to eliminate repeated recharge troubles for regular or daily commuters.
For Private Vehicles Only
This plan is strictly for non-commercial, private cars. Commercial car owners cannot avail themselves of this yearly pass. The objective is to make travel easier for regular vehicle users who always use highways for personal purposes as opposed to business operations.
Easy Activation and Renewal Process
For the sake of convenience, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) will provide links for activation and renewal on their websites. Users will also have the facility to activate or renew the pass through the ‘Rajmarg Yatra App,’ thus making the process quick and convenient.
Less Waiting Time at Toll Plazas
One of the key goals of this project is to minimize congestion on toll plazas. With one digital payment covering up to 200 trips, the FASTag system will minimize waiting time, smooth traffic flow, and decrease chances of disputes. It is particularly beneficial for residents of a 60-km radius around toll points who constantly experience delays through frequent toll halts.
Benefits for Daily Highway Commuters
Millions of private car owners are set to gain from this year-round pass. The service provides a faster, smoother, and less stressful drive on national highways. It saves the need for multiple payments while providing definite travel expenses throughout the year.
