Hero Vida VX2: Hero MotoCorp has topped the news in July 2025 with its electric scooter Vida recording record-breaking sales for the month. For the first time, the company has beaten the 10,000-unit level in a single month. In a release on data from the government portal ‘Vahan’, Hero had sold 10,489 Vida electric scooters in July. This is a massive jump from July 2024, where sales were at 5,067 units — reflecting a year-on-year growth of 107%.
Vida Sales in 2025
July’s sales were not only the company’s highest monthly sales, but they also surpassed Hero’s earlier record of 8,040 units in March 2025. Vida’s increased sales have also enabled Hero MotoCorp to achieve a 10% market share in India’s overall electric two-wheeler market for the first time. Beginning with only 1,626 units sold in January 2025, Vida has expanded a whopping 545% in merely seven months, demonstrating robust demand and increasing popularity in the EV market.
Launch of Budget-Friendly Vida VX2 Drives Sales
One of the primary reasons for the dramatic increase in sales is the launch of the company’s most budget-friendly model the Vida VX2. This scooter went on sale on 2nd July 2025 and has a claimed range of 142 km on a full charge. It also has a special battery rental option through BAAS (Battery as a Service) program. First priced at ₹99,490 (ex-showroom), the model was also available without the battery at a base price of ₹59,490. But in just 7 days, the company cut ₹15,000, taking the introductory price to mere ₹44,490.
Hero Aims at 1 Lakh Sales in 2025
Between January and July 2025, Hero MotoCorp has sold as many as 43,885 electric scooters, already breaching the 43,710 units sold in the whole of 2024. With five months still remaining in the year and good monthly momentum, Hero is now well on course to cross the 1 lakh annual sales mark for the first time in its EV business. The increase in market share from 4% in 2024 to 6% in 2025 indicates the increasing faith of Indian consumers in Vida scooters.
