Volkswagen: Volkswagen has begun deliveries of its eagerly awaited Golf GTI in India. Just released last month, the car begins at an ex-showroom of ₹53 lakh. The fact that only 150 units of the first batch will be available makes it even more rare, and there’s an urgency to purchase one of their own among enthusiasts.

Performance and Powertrain

Beneath the bonnet, the Golf GTI has a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine (EA888 evo4) that churns out a staggering 261 bhp and 370 Nm of torque. Coupled with a 7-speed DSG gearbox, the vehicle is capable of reaching 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 5.9 seconds. With an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h, this front-wheel-drive hatch delivers breathtaking rides. The vehicle also has a sport suspension system with independent front and rear suspension systems for more responsive handling and enhanced road feedback.

Exterior Styling

The exterior of the Golf GTI is targeted at distinguishing the vehicle. It has a big honeycomb-pattern air dam incorporated into the front bumper, which is flanked by distinctive X-shaped fog lights. A signature red ‘GTI’ badge sits near the front doors, linked visually by a red strip connecting the headlamps and brake calipers. At the rear, the car sports smoked LED taillights, a bold roof spoiler, and dual exhaust tips, all riding on 18-inch alloy wheels that further accentuate its aggressive look.

Colour Options and Design

Volkswagen retails the Golf GTI in four color schemes: Moonstone Grey, Orxy White, Kings Red Metallic, and Grenadilla Black Metallic. In India, it has a single, top-of-the-line variant with every premium feature as standard.

Interior and Features

The interior, in turn, coordinates with the dynamic exterior of the car through a driver-focused design. It accommodates a 12.9-inch stand-alone touchscreen infotainment screen, heated front seats, and wireless charging. Some other features are ambient lighting, auto climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. Audiophiles can revel in an immersive experience through a 7-speaker audio system. A sports leather-wrapped steering wheel with a GTI badge finishes off the cockpit-like experience.

Limited Availability

Perhaps the most important part of this launch is that it is exclusive. Volkswagen has limited the initial run to only 150 units for the Indian market, making demand even more heated and its limited-edition charm even more pronounced. This does not just enhance its premium pull but also aims at those who appreciate the unique and the performance-driven.
