Huawei has applied for a patent of a solid-state battery that would revolutionize electric mobility. This battery is produced with a nitrogen-doped sulfide electrolyte. This substance contributes to boosting the energy density to 400–500 Wh/kg, which is twice to thrice that of existing lithium-ion batteries. The outcome is additional energy packed in a compact area and super-fast charging.
Only 5 Minutes for Complete Charging
One of the biggest concerns with EVs has always been charging time. But Huawei’s new battery claims to go from 0 to 100% in just 5 minutes. This is a huge improvement over today’s technology, which often takes hours. If this claim proves true in real-world usage, it could remove a major barrier for electric vehicle adoption.
Over 3000Km Range on Full Charge
The battery, the company claims, delivers a range of over 3000 kilometers on a full charge. This has been calculated according to China’s CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle), an approved testing method by the government. Based on more rigorous tests such as the US EPA cycle, the range can fall to about 2000 kilometers — well ahead of existing EVs in the market.
