Honda City: In a fuel-efficient car market that is picking up steam, Honda has reduced the price of its City Hybrid by ₹95,000. In doing so, the hybrid sedan is now more enticing than before. The price stands at ₹19.89 lakh (ex-showroom) now, roughly the same price it was launched at back in 2022.
Price Cut and Its Impact
The revised price positions City Hybrid ₹1 lakh lower than Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Virtus in certain trims. The aggressive pricing provides Honda a good opportunity to attract attention in the mid-size sedan market. The new price of the hybrid sedan will likely attract customers who were looking for a petrol car.
Mileage
Honda City Hybrid has a 1.5-litre petrol engine combined with two electric motors and i-MMD (Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive) system. This powertrain provides a robust performance with an extraordinary mileage of 26.5 km per litre. It is also powered in pure electric mode when required, providing enhanced fuel savings while driving daily.

Features which Set It Apart
Not like typical models, the City Hybrid ZX model is fitted with sophisticated ADAS features of lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and collision mitigation braking system. It also has upmarket design tweaks like a sportier diffuser, lip spoiler, and e:HEV badging to look distinct from the normal petrol edition.
Is It Better Than a Petrol Sedan?
Priced below ₹20 lakh now, the City Hybrid makes perfect sense for buyers who were thinking of a petrol car in this price bracket. Less expensive to run and with the advantage of hybrid technology, it represents improved long-term value. Buyers who want the latest technology, high mileage, and luxury comfort can now switch to hybrid without breaking the bank.

Competition within the Segment
In June 2025, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, Volkswagen Virtus, and Maruti Ciaz sedans’ sales were disappointing. Lacking a direct hybrid rival in its class and a higher-priced Toyota hybrid sedan, Honda City Hybrid remains India’s most affordable full-hybrid sedan.
