Best SUVs Under ₹9 Lakh: Compact SUVs remain a top preference for Indian buyers. In June 2025, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza surprised everyone by becoming the best-selling compact SUV, even surpassing long-time favorites like the Tata Nexon and Punch. With an affordable price and consistent performance, Brezza attracted the highest number of buyers in its category.

Maruti Brezza Sales Jump 10 Percent in June

Brezza occupied the top spot last month with sales of 14,507 units, up by 10% from June 2024, when it had sold 13,172 units. Its increasing popularity is indicative of customer confidence and increased demand in the under ₹9 lakh SUV category.

Tata Nexon and Punch Face Sales Decline

Tata Nexon occupied the second spot with 11,602 units sold, but witnessed a 4% drop in sales over last year. Meanwhile, Tata Punch, which was previously dominating the budget SUV space, witnessed a dramatic 43% decline with only 10,446 units sold in June.

Maruti Fronx Sales Marginally Improve

Fronx maintained its performance and achieved the fourth spot. Maruti retailed 9,815 units of the Fronx, registering a 1% year-on-year increase. This fuel-efficient, compact SUV’s equilibrium design appears to continue to fetch it demand.

Kia Sonet, Hyundai Exter Also Drop

Kia Sonet dropped to number seven, selling 6,658 units, 32% lower than in June 2024. Taking the number eight spot was the Hyundai Exter, selling 5,873 units, with a 15% fall in year-on-year sales.

The Skoda Kushaq and Toyota Taisor round up the list

Skoda Kushaq took the ninth position with 3,196 units sold in June. Toyota Taisor, another new entrant in this segment, was at number ten, selling 2,408 units, down by 24% from last year.

Why Brezza Reigns Supreme

Maruti Brezza’s success has been rooted in its low costs, extensive service network, and feature-packed value. Although competitors are still a tempting prospect, Brezza still leads the way with consistent updates and robust after-sales support.
