Bajaj Avenger 220 Street: Bajaj is planning a strong return in India’s cruiser segment with a known face. The company is bringing back one of its most discussed bikes, which used to be a favorite among highway enthusiasts. With new advancements, the ground is prepared for a strong comeback of this iconic two-wheeler.

Avenger Sub-Brand Set for Revival

Bajaj is all set to bring back the Avenger 220 Street, marking a strategic foray in the cruiser segment. The bike has been homologated for Indian roads, while leaked documents point towards its release in the near term. This is at a time when merely two Avenger models are available—Street (160cc) and Cruise (220cc). Shortly, the Avenger 220 Street will also join the ranks, providing customers with a middle option with power and affordability in sync.

Differences Between Avenger 220 Street and Cruise

The Street trim is just one step below the Cruise, both mechanically identical but with a different look. While the Cruise comes with a long windshield and chrome trim, the Street trim takes a more city-friendly look with blacked-out components and bold colors. It omits the additional touring hardware but keeps the feel of a cruiser with low-set seats, foot pegs set forward, and laid-back riding position.

Design and Dimensions

Based on the homologation details, the Avenger 220 Street is 310 kg gross weight, has a wheelbase of 1490mm, and a length of 2210mm, width of 806mm, and a height of 1070mm. It is shorter compared to the Cruise because it does not have the tall windscreen. This improves the Street to make it more city-friendly without diluting its cruiser credentials.

Engine and Performance

Both the Cruise and Street models shall employ the identical 220cc oil-cooled SOHC motor, which shall produce 19.03 PS of power and 17.55 Nm of torque. Coupled with a 5-speed transmission, this motor combination provides a comfortable ride on both city roads and highways. It’s ideal for riders who prioritize comfort and even performance over long distances.

Expected Pricing Strategy

To revitalize Avenger brand sales, particularly following the 46% decline in April 2025, Bajaj is poised to introduce the 220 Street at an aggressive price. While the Cruise variant is available for ₹1.48 lakh (ex-showroom), the Street might be priced at ₹1.40 lakh or below. This is done with the intention to lure new customers as well as previous Avenger enthusiasts.

Target Audience and Market Impact

By providing a bare-bones version of the Cruise, Bajaj aims at commuters who want a cruiser on a budget without the weight of tourer features. The return of the 220 Street, which is expected to boost interest levels, comes as the cruiser segment has few takers. It’s a move that might help the Avenger brand win back lost ground in the market.
