The Third Model in the Electric Lineup

The Volvo EX60 will be the third model in the company’s electric range, following the EX30 and the flagship EX90. The company aims to further strengthen its sales in the electric segment with this mid-size premium SUV. This SUV will also be introduced in India, further increasing competition in the luxury electric segment.

Attractive Design and Look

The teaser released by the company shows a glimpse of the EX60, which features Volvo’s signature Thor’s Hammer-style headlamps and striking taillights. This SUV will have a slightly different look than the traditional XC60. While the ICE model featured square lines, the EX60 will feature a more dynamic and crossover style. This clearly indicates that Volvo is adopting a new design language for its upcoming SUVs.

Production with International Markets in Mind

For international markets, the Volvo EX60 will be manufactured at the company’s Torslanda plant near Gothenburg, Sweden. The company is also considering local assembly for emerging markets like India. This will help keep pricing competitive and offer better value to customers.

Company Plans

Volvo is still a relatively small player in the luxury segment in India, but it is gradually expanding its electric portfolio. Before the launch of the EX60, the company plans to introduce its flagship electric SUV, the EX90, in the Indian market in 2026.

Volvo’s revenue for the third quarter of fiscal year 2024 was SEK 86.4 billion, slightly lower than SEK 92.8 billion in the previous year. However, the company’s operating income increased by SEK 5.8 billion. This improvement reflects the success of Volvo’s SEK 18 billion cost and cash optimization program.
