FASTag: Since August 15, 2025, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched the FASTag Annual Pass. The scheme began on Independence Day and immediately gained users all over the country. Private vehicle owners can now experience hassle-free travel on chosen highways and expressways without any hesitation of recurring toll deductions. The strong response indicates that citizens were eagerly awaiting such a facility for ease and economical travel.

Massive Response on Opening Day

On the day of its launch itself, the FASTag Annual Pass was a hit. Up to 7 PM, nearly 1.4 lakh users had placed and activated their passes. In addition to this, nearly 1.39 lakh transactions occurred at the toll plazas. It is even claimed that 20,000 to 25,000 users were simultaneously active on the Rajmarg Yatra app, indicating the popularity and craze for this new facility.

FASTag Annual Pass Cost and Period

The price of FASTag Annual Pass has been fixed at ₹3,000. After activation, it is valid for one year or 200 journeys, whichever is earlier. The pass is only for private vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans. Commercial vehicles are not applicable. Keeping it easy for the users, the pass can be bought and activated online from the official NHAI website or the Rajmarg Yatra mobile application.

Restricted to Private Vehicles

The annual pass has been limited only to private vehicles. These consist of cars, jeeps, and vans. By restricting it to personal use, NHAI has ensured that families and repeated travelers gain the maximum benefits. With over 8 crore FASTag users already in the system, and an entry rate of around 98 percent, this new pass is going to make traveling on national highways even more convenient.

FASTag Annual Pass and Travel Savings

The greatest benefit of the annual pass is saving money. For ₹3,000, the user will be able to travel through almost 1,150 toll booths on national highways and expressways without frequent deductions. It not only saves money but also eliminates the annoyance of frequent payments. For daily travel and long-distance travel, the pass can make substantial annual savings along with a hassle-free and seamless highway journey.
