Shivling Rules: According to beliefs, placing a Shivalinga in a home temple is considered highly auspicious. Installing a Shivalinga in your home and regularly worshipping it bestows the special blessings of Lord Shiva upon your house. Therefore, if you wish to install a Shivalinga in your home, it is essential to keep a few things in mind.

Which direction should the Shivalinga be placed?

North or northeast are considered the best directions for installing a Shivalinga. According to beliefs, installing a Shivalinga in this direction brings happiness and prosperity to the family. However, it should be noted that the water-draining part of the Shivalinga, i.e., the part of the Shivalinga from which the water flows, should always face north or east.

The Correct Size of a Shivalinga

According to Vastu Shastra, placing a Shivalinga the size of a thumb in the home is considered highly auspicious. Placing a Shivalinga that is too large or too small is considered inauspicious.

How many Shivalingas can be placed in a home?

According to Vastu Shastra, one should not keep more than one Shivling in the house. Doing so does not yield good results. If you have more than one Shivling in your home, it may also be a Vastu defect.

This should not be done

Never keep a broken Shivling in the house, as it may lead to negative consequences. If, for some reason, your Shivling breaks, you should apologise for your mistake and immerse it in flowing water.

These things should be kept in mind

It should be kept in mind that Shivling should never be placed directly on the ground. It should always be placed on a platform or a clean place. Furthermore, Shivling should never be installed in your bedroom. Doing so increases negativity.
