Dev Deepawali 2025: The festival is celebrated approximately 15 days after Diwali. According to beliefs, Lord Shiva killed the demon Tripurasura on this day. Consequently, the gods and goddesses descend to earth to light lamps and celebrate Deepawali. However, some special rituals are also recommended for this occasion.
These things must be done
Wake up early in the morning and bathe in a holy river. If this is not possible, you can bathe at home by mixing Ganga water with the water. Afterwards, wear yellow clothes. After washing, sprinkle Ganga water in the house and worship Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu during the auspicious time in the evening. Doing all these things will bring happiness and prosperity to your life.
Blessings of the Gods
On the day of Dev Deepawali, one must go to the banks of the Ganges River during the auspicious evening time, light an earthen lamp with ghee or sesame oil, and offer it as a lamp. Depending on your faith, you can light 5, 7, 11, 21, 51, or 108 lamps and donate them on this day. Doing so eliminates all sorrows and bestows the blessings of Lord Shiva.
Relief from the effects of Rahu and Ketu
On the occasion of Dev Deepawali, worship the Shivalinga and anoint it with Ganga water and milk. While performing the anointment, continuously chant Om Namah Shivaya. Doing so relieves the effects of Rahu and Ketu doshas.
Poverty will be removed
On the occasion of Dev Deepawali, worship Lord Vishnu and offer him a garland of 11 Tulsi leaves. It is said that this practice brings blessings from Lord Vishnu. Donating lamps on this day is also considered very auspicious. To ward off poverty from your home, you can light a lamp with seven cloves.
