Annapurna Yojana: Good news for women. The Annapurna Yojana offers beneficiaries a monthly financial aid of Rs 3,000, but there have been reports of delays regarding the August payment, causing concern among many. Conversations about the payment are also trending on social media. In response, the state government has assured that the installments for eligible beneficiaries will not be delayed and that the funds will be deposited into their accounts shortly. This information was shared by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Thursday.

When can beneficiaries expect the funds in their accounts? The Chief Minister mentioned that the verification process for applications submitted by July 10th is nearly finished, while work continues on those received between July 11th and July 31st. Initially, only applicants whose verification is complete will receive the first installment.

He stated that those with completed verifications will start seeing the Rs 3,000 installment in their bank accounts from August 17th. He also noted that the delay was only for this month, and from next month onward, payments will be issued in the second week of each month.

The comprehensive eligibility criteria for the scheme will be disclosed on August 10. The Chief Minister also announced on Thursday that the government would provide detailed eligibility criteria for the scheme on August 10. He plans to hold a press conference on that day alongside Malati Rava Roy, the Minister of State for Women, Child Development, and Social Welfare, to clarify who qualifies for this financial support.

It’s important to highlight that the Annapurna scheme, which was introduced after the BJP took power in West Bengal, replaced the previous Lakshmi Bhandar scheme and raised the monthly assistance from Rs 1,500 to Rs 3,000. According to the government, approximately 11.9 million women were enrolled in the scheme when it was officially launched on July 1. However, with new applications invited until July 31, the total number of applicants has risen to 21.6 million.
