According to passengers, the turbulence lasted for approximately 2 to 3 minutes. Despite this, thanks to the pilots’ presence of mind, the aircraft landed safely at IGI Airport shortly after 11:00 AM. Immediately after landing, Air India’s medical team arranged for the injured passengers to be taken to the hospital. As a precautionary measure, 10 passengers and 4 crew members were taken to the Medanta Medical Centre at the airport for minor injuries, where they received first aid.
Main causes of turbulence:
Weather and clouds: Storm clouds, thunderstorms, and strong winds cause the aircraft to jolt.
Differences in air temperature and pressure disrupt airflow when layers of warm and cold air meet.
Mountainous terrain: When air strikes high mountains and rises, it creates turbulence in the aircraft’s flight path.
