Aadhaar Card Rules: Big update is here regarding Aadhaar Card. Preparations are underway to bring Aadhaar-related services closer to the homes of people in rural Agra. The Panchayati Raj Department plans to set up Aadhaar enrollment and update machines in all 690 village panchayats across the district. These machines will facilitate the issuance of new Aadhaar cards for children. However, new Aadhaar cards will not be provided for individuals over 18 years old. Important updates to existing Aadhaar cards, such as changes to address, mobile number, biometrics, or other information, will still be available.

The department is optimistic that this initiative at the village panchayat level will enhance the accessibility of Aadhaar services. This will be particularly beneficial for rural families looking to obtain Aadhaar cards for their newborns and school-aged children. Additionally, performing Aadhaar updates within the village will help save both time and money.

The process is different for children under 5 years of age

According to UIDAI regulations, Aadhaar cards issued for children under the age of 5 are called “Baal Aadhaar.” The child’s fingerprint or iris biometric data is not captured. Only a photograph of the child is taken, and their Aadhaar is linked to the Aadhaar number of either the parent. When the child turns 5, their biometrics must be updated. Subsequently, they must be updated again upon reaching the age of 15.

What documents are needed to obtain a Baal Aadhaar?

To get a child’s Aadhaar card, specific documents are necessary. The most crucial document is the child’s birth certificate. If a birth certificate is not available, alternatives like a hospital discharge slip or a school ID can be accepted. Furthermore, one parent’s Aadhaar card and an active mobile number linked to Aadhaar are required to facilitate the receipt of OTPs and future updates.

Aadhaar enrollment machines are being set up in village panchayat buildings across many states. This initiative enables rural families to enroll their children directly at the panchayat level. In areas where this service is not available, Aadhaar enrollment can also be conducted at the nearest post office.

In rural regions, you can also request a child Aadhaar by reaching out to a postman or utilizing the PostInfo app. If these options are not available in your village, you can apply by visiting the nearest Aadhaar Service Center, Public Service Center (CSC), bank, or post office.

Important update for individuals aged 18 and above

UIDAI is consistently striving to make Aadhaar services more digital and user-friendly. Anyone who is 18 years or older can visit authorized Aadhaar Seva Kendras to update their name, address, mobile number, email address, or other vital information in Aadhaar. Many services are also accessible online, although biometric updates will require a visit to an Aadhaar Kendra.
