India is an agriculture-dependent country. No matter how much economic progress there is in terms of industry and trade, the mainstay of the country is agriculture. Many small, large and medium-sized farmers are still fully involved in agriculture. The central government has brought various profitable schemes for them. The Modi government has brought a bunch of schemes for the development of farmers for financial development and technological support. Many of them may not be aware of many of these schemes.
What schemes does the center have for farmers?
Krishak Samman Nidhi Scheme: This special farmer welfare scheme of the central government was started in 2018. Under this scheme, Rs 6,000 is given annually to small and poor farmers. Farmers are given three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each (PM Kisan Samman Nidhi). This money is transferred directly to the farmers’ bank accounts through DBT.
Krishi Udan Yojana: Through this scheme, farmers can quickly and safely deliver their fruits, vegetables, fish and milk to the major markets of the country. These products are supplied through 58 airports in the country. The prices are also higher. Farmers mainly from the North East, hills and tribal areas can benefit under this scheme.
Pradhan Mantri Krishak Maandhan Yojana: Farmers get the opportunity to save money regularly under this scheme and get pension in the future. They can deposit from 55 to 200 rupees monthly in this popular scheme. The government also gives an equal amount of money. Farmers are given a pension of 3 thousand rupees under this scheme when they reach the age of 60. It is to be noted that money can be deposited in this scheme from the age of 18 to 40.
Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sech Yojana: Farmers get multiple benefits from deep irrigation to canal construction and water conservation under this scheme. This scheme is very fruitful for farmers in areas where agriculture mainly depends on the rainy season.
Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana: This scheme has been newly started by the Center for the welfare of farmers. The main objective of this project is to improve the 100 backward agricultural districts of the country. Under this project, farmers get technical training, modern seeds, storage and marketing facilities. This special project was started from July 16 this year.
