What has changed on the PNB RuPay Platinum debit card?
The bank has announced that the unconditional free domestic airport lounge access facility on this card will be discontinued from April 1, 2026. This means that entry to the lounge will no longer be possible simply by showing the card, as was the case before. This decision is considered a major change for customers who previously availed this facility without any spending requirements.
What will be implemented from April 1, 2026?
From April 1, 2026, all complimentary lounge access benefits will be discontinued. According to the bank, this change has been made to inform customers in advance and allow them to prepare according to the new terms and conditions. This move is also seen as an indication of rising costs in the banking industry and a shift towards usage-based services.
New spending-based facility from April 15, 2026
The bank has not eliminated the facility, but has made it spending-based as of April 15, 2026. Now, customers will have to spend a minimum amount in the previous quarter to avail free domestic lounge access in the next period. This system has been implemented to increase card usage.
New minimum spending requirement
If customers wish to continue using the lounge facility, they will have to spend at least ₹5000 using the card in the previous quarter. This spending must be done through POS or online transactions. Only after fulfilling this condition will they get lounge access in the next quarter.
