Aadhaar Update: The Aadhaar card is considered one of the most important documents in the country. Without an Aadhaar card, you are unable to perform many banking and non-banking transactions. It’s important to note that some foreign nationals were previously issued Aadhaar cards incorrectly as Indian residents. Now, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is providing these individuals with the facility to change their Aadhaar status to Foreign National. The objective is to correct citizenship and residency information and keep government records updated.

Whose Aadhaar was mistakenly issued as an Indian resident
Who have subsequently acquired citizenship of another country
Whose nationality information was not correctly recorded at the time of Aadhaar enrollment

Documents required to change Aadhaar status
Applicants must visit an Aadhaar Service Centre or authorized enrollment center and present the following original documents:
Foreign Passport
Valid Visa (such as Long-Term, Student, or Employment Visa)
FRRO or FRO Registration Certificate (if applicable)
Proof of residence in India (if residing in India)

Visit your nearest Aadhaar enrollment or update center
Fill out the Demographic Update Form
Select the Citizenship/Nationality Update option
Submit the required documents for verification

An Aadhaar card issued to foreign nationals does not grant Indian citizenship or permanent residency rights.
Aadhaar is solely for identification purposes and is issued only to those who have resided in India for at least 182 days in the preceding 12 months.
