Monsoon Update: The weather in the country is changing very rapidly. Several states are experiencing bone-chilling cold. Despite the end of the monsoon season, the rains are not stopping. Rainfall continues in many parts of the country. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather will change in the next 72 hours. The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall alert for several states.

The IMD has issued a rain alert for the coming days in 7 states, including Delhi. In addition, the weather is expected to worsen in the mountainous regions, and its effects will soon be visible in the plains as well. So, let’s find out which states have been issued a rain alert.

Weather forecast for Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and UP
According to the Meteorological Department, a rain alert has been issued for Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh for the next 72 hours. Rainfall is expected in these states from January 22nd. An alert for strong winds has also been issued during this period.

Weather in the hilly areas
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Ladakh for the next 72 hours. Snowfall is also expected in many places during this time. An alert has been issued for dust storms and strong winds at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour in the next 72 hours.

Rain warning in Southern states
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall in the southern states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka for the next 72 hours. In addition, heavy rainfall is expected in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Mahe, Karaikal, and Puducherry in the next 72 hours.

According to meteorologists, two consecutive ‘Western Disturbances’ are moving towards North India. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation is present over central Rajasthan. The interaction of these two systems will lead to increased moisture, resulting in snowfall in the mountains and rainfall in the plains, including Delhi-NCR.
