Vande Bharat Sleeper Ticket Cancellation: Will You Get a Refund? Know the Rules

Vande Bharat Sleeper Ticket Cancellation: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the nation’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train yesterday. Running from Howrah in West Bengal to Guwahati (Kamakhya) in Assam, this train will traverse the 958-kilometer journey in 14 hours. The ticketing and concessions for the Vande Bharat Sleeper train are different from those of other trains.

Notably, this train does not operate under the RAC (Right of Entry) system. Additionally, only women, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and duty pass holders are eligible for reservations; no other special concessions are available.

Many are curious about whether they can get a refund if they decide to cancel their Vande Bharat Sleeper train tickets. If you’re asking whether a refund is possible upon ticket cancellation, the answer is yes. However, the regulations are significantly stricter compared to regular trains. You will receive a refund, but it will depend entirely on how early you cancel your ticket. The Railways has set three time frames for this. The closer you are to the departure time when you cancel, the more you will lose.

25% deduction if the ticket is canceled 72 hours in advance

If you have a confirmed Vande Bharat Sleeper ticket and cancel it more than 72 hours prior to the scheduled departure, you will not receive a full fare refund. The Railways will deduct 25% of your total fare and refund the rest. If the ticket is canceled between 8 and 72 hours before departure, half of the fare will be deducted.

If you change your mind just a few days before your journey, the refund amount will be further decreased. According to the rules, if a confirmed ticket is canceled between 72 hours and 8 hours before the train’s departure, a cancellation fee of 50% of the fare will be deducted. This means you will only receive half of your money back.
