First over and first wicket. Arshdeep Singh took no time to prove himself jn the final match of the three-match ODI series between India and New Zealand (IND vs NZ 3rd ODI).
Team India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and decided to bowl first. The Indian team has come into this match with one change. Arshdeep Singh has been called in place of Prasidh Krishna.
Arshdeep Singh takes wicket in the very first over of IND vs NZ 3rd ODI
Coming to bat first, New Zealand had a very bad start, the Kiwi team lost two wickets for only 5 runs. First, Arshdeep gave India the first success by bowling Henry Nicholls, while Harshit Rana gave the Kiwi team the second blow by having Devon Conway caught by Rohit Sharma in the slip. New Zealand lost two wickets in just 7 balls.
Arshdeep Singh provided India with their first breakthrough in the very first over, dismissing Henry Nicholls. Henry Nicholls was dismissed without even opening his account. The delivery that Arshdeep bowled was exceptional. He bowled a length delivery. The ball was going outside the off-spin. The batsman tried to release it but failed to get his bat out of the line. The ball took the edge of his bat and hit the stumps. Nicholls was shocked after being bowled.
Gill stated that the high run rate on the field was one of the reasons why they decided to bowl first. He said, “I don’t think there will be dew here, but the pitch looks very good and it’s always better to set a score and chase it on such a surface.”
The series between the two teams began on January 11th, when the hosts defeated the Kiwis by four wickets. New Zealand then made a remarkable comeback in the next match on January 14th, defeating India by seven wickets.
