Amrit Bharat Express: The Railways is rolling out nine Amrit Bharat Express trains, aimed at giving passengers a comfy travel experience at budget-friendly prices throughout the rail network. These trains will soon start operating from West Bengal and Assam, spreading across India and adding to the expanding fleet of modern, affordable trains.
These trains will offer cost-effective long-distance travel from these two states, reaching more populated areas like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. They will also connect remote regions such as Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Karnataka, linking various parts of the country. This rail service is set to ease the high demand for travel while ensuring a pleasant journey for passengers.
As per the Ministry of Railways, the Railways has transformed mobility for millions who depend on trains for their daily commute. By making the luxury of travel accessible to the average person, it has steadily introduced modern, passenger-friendly services, guaranteeing that reliability, safety, and top-notch comfort are no longer just for premium travelers.
In line with this vision, the Amrit Bharat Express has been introduced as a blessing for daily commuters, launched as a special initiative during the Amrit Kaal. It provides non-stop, non-AC sleeper class travel for long distances at fares around Rs 500 per thousand kilometers, with lower prices for shorter trips, connecting areas that are often cut off by geography and lack of opportunities. The fare system is straightforward and clear, with no dynamic pricing, making it easy for everyone to access.
Thirty Amrit Bharat Express trains have been operational since their launch in December 2023, and nine new services will be added in just one week. This new set of Amrit Bharat Express services will enhance rail links from the eastern and sub-Himalayan regions to key destinations in southern, western, and central India.
Modern facilities for passengers
Passengers can avail a host of modern amenities including foldable snack tables, mobile and bottle holders, radium floor strips, comfortable seats and berths, modern toilets with electro-pneumatic flushing, fire extinguishing systems and facilities for differently-abled passengers.
Fast charging points and a pantry car make long-distance travel even more comfortable. Keeping in mind the needs of the average traveler, the Amrit Bharat Express proves that modern design, reliability, and superior amenities can be offered at truly affordable fares.
By redefining non-AC long-distance travel for everyday commuters, it offers a new model for inclusive, passenger-centric rail modernization. The Amrut Bharat train showcases a future-ready railway system where thoughtful design, indigenous technology, and excellent operations combine to create the new national standard for comfortable, reliable, and inclusive rail travel.
