Prime Minister Narendra Modi will personally flag off the first Vande Bharat Sleeper Express on January 17, 2026. He will be in Kolkata to flag off the train, which will then depart for Guwahati. The train will be available to passengers from January 17th and 18th onwards. There is considerable excitement among the public regarding this. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared details about the Vande Bharat Sleeper. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train on January 17th. He informed that this train will operate between Kolkata and Guwahati. This will boost trade and reduce travel time for passengers.
Along with the launch of the Vande Bharat Sleeper train, six new Amrit Bharat Express trains are also being introduced. These trains will be available to passengers from January 17th to 18th. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Vande Bharat Express train from Malda Town in West Bengal. Improvements to be implemented in 52 weeks
During an event held in Delhi, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that several major reforms will be implemented in Indian Railways in 2026. New methods and modern technology will be used, keeping passenger safety in mind. He further added that 52 improvements will be introduced in 52 weeks this year.
This will give Indian Railways a new look in the coming days. A new structural approach will be adopted for technology and innovation in trains. AI will also be used extensively for this purpose.
