Ration Card e-KYC Process: The central government is providing subsidized and free rations to millions of people across the country through ration cards under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). Now, the government has taken another important step to ensure that the benefits of this scheme reach only the genuine and eligible beneficiaries. For this reason, e-KYC has been made mandatory for ration card holders. The government believes that e-KYC will eliminate fake and duplicate ration cards and ensure that needy people continue to receive rations without interruption.

How often is e-KYC required?
According to the new rules, every ration card holder will now be required to complete e-KYC once every 5 years. For those who completed this process in 2013 or earlier, updating their e-KYC is now extremely important. The good news is that there is no need to visit government offices for this, as the process has been made completely online.

How to complete Ration Card e-KYC from home
You can complete your ration card e-KYC in just a few minutes using your smartphone. For this, you will first need to download the Mera KYC and Aadhaar FaceRD apps on your phone. After opening the app, set your location. Then enter your Aadhaar number and captcha and verify with the OTP received on your mobile.

After verification, the information linked to your Aadhaar will be displayed on the screen. Now tap on the Face e-KYC option. Your phone’s camera will turn on, and you will need to take a photo of yourself looking at the camera. If the photo is correct, click on submit. Once this process is complete, your ration card e-KYC will be completed.

How to check if e-KYC is complete
If you want to know whether your e-KYC is complete or not, there is an easy way to do this as well. Open the Mera KYC app and enter your location. Then enter your Aadhaar number, captcha, and OTP. The status will be displayed on the screen. If it shows Status: Y, then your e-KYC is complete. If it shows Status: N, it means that e-KYC is still pending. Offline e-KYC Method

If you are facing difficulties in completing e-KYC through the mobile app, you can also opt for the offline method. For this, you will need to visit your nearest ration shop (Fair Price Shop – FPS) or Common Service Center (CSC). Simply carry your Aadhaar card and ration card with you. The concerned official will complete the e-KYC process by performing the necessary biometric or other procedures.
