Budget 2026 Update – The central government has already begun preparations for presenting the budget. The budget is likely to be presented on February 1, 2026. This year’s budget could also bring significant relief for farmers. The central government may increase the limit of the Kisan Credit Card.
It is being speculated that the Modi government may increase the Kisan Credit Card limit by Rs. 1 lakh in the budget. This will greatly benefit farmers. In Budget 2025, the Kisan Credit Card limit was also increased by up to Rs. 2 lakh. Currently, farmers can avail loans up to Rs. 5 lakh through the Kisan Credit Card at subsidised rates.
Will the Kisan Credit Card limit be increased?
The central government is considering increasing the limit of the Kisan Credit Card in its Union Budget 2026. It is expected that this limit may be increased from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 6 lakh.
This means that farmers will be able to get loans up to Rs. 6 lakh at subsidised rates through the Kisan Credit Card. This would represent an increase of Rs. 1 lakh. If the government increases the limit, farmers will be able to take loans up to Rs. 6 lakh at an annual interest rate of just 4 per cent.
This interest rate will be applicable after the subsidy, and will need to be paid each year when renewing the loan. A large number of farmers will be able to benefit from this. The government has not yet made any official statement, but these discussions are circulating in media reports.
When will the Union Budget be presented?
There are various speculations regarding when the central government will present its Union Budget. The Modi government has been presenting the general budget on February 1 for a long time. This year, February 1 falls on a Sunday, which is a weekly holiday, and also coincides with Ravidas Jayanti.
In such a situation, will the central government change the date of the general budget? The government might change the date due to the weekly holiday. However, no information has been released on this matter yet.
