Is the identity of the servant, driver, security guard, or delivery boy who visits your home or premises genuine? Everyone must know whether their identity is official or not. Until now, we had to obtain photocopies of Aadhaar cards, store the documents, and fear their misuse. But now, UIDAI has made this entire process incredibly easy, secure, and digital.

UIDAI, the government agency that issues Aadhaar cards, announced on the social media platform X that the new Aadhaar app allows you to instantly verify the identity of domestic helpers, drivers, security guards, and delivery boys.

How to verify staff identity without documents

You no longer need any documents or photocopies of Aadhaar to verify the identity of your staff. This can be done easily using the Aadhaar app on your mobile phone.

  • First, download the Aadhaar app on your mobile phone.
  • Next, register using your Aadhaar number and face authentication, and activate the app.
  • Once registration is complete, you’ll see a new and simplified interface, which includes a QR code option.
  • Now, scan the QR code of the Aadhaar app on the phone of the person whose identity you want to verify—whether it’s a servant, driver, security guard, or delivery boy—with your Aadhaar app.

Once the QR code is scanned, the person’s identity will be verified instantly and securely. UIDAI specifically included this feature in the Aadhaar app to prevent misuse by tampering with the Aadhaar card’s photocopy, photo, or other details.

Selectively Share Feature

UIDAI has already clarified that you no longer need to find documents or provide a photocopy of your entire Aadhaar card to share your identity. The new Aadhaar app allows users to selectively share, meaning they can share only the necessary information and nothing more. This significantly reduces the risk of data leaks and misuse.

New Rule for Hotels and Event Organizers

UIDAI will soon implement a new rule that will make it mandatory for hotels, event organizers, and other such organizations to register for Aadhaar-based verification. This aims to eliminate the outdated and illegal practice of collecting photocopies of Aadhaar cards from customers and keeping them on paper.

Registered entities will be provided with offline verification technology via QR code or the new Aadhaar app. UIDAI will also provide an API to enable organizations to update their systems to support Aadhaar verification. UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar stated that any organization wishing to verify identity through Aadhaar will now be required to register with UIDAI.

Other Big and Amazing Features

According to the UIDAI CEO, two major new features have been added to the new Aadhaar app. The first is “Show, Share, and Verify,” which allows you to digitally display, share, and verify your Aadhaar. For example, if you’re checking into a hotel, you can share your ID by scanning the hotel’s QR code, similar to UPI payments.

Another important feature is updating your mobile number through face authentication. This feature was previously limited to Aadhaar service centers. UIDAI claims that this new app will be compliant with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act and ensure completely paperless, secure, and user-controlled identity verification.
