The 5-match T20 series between India and South Africa is about start. In the series, the Men in Blue will try to improve few of their things to better their performance ahead of the next T20 World Cup.

Team India will have to take care of few things in India vs South T20 series

It’s fairly clear that the five-match T20I series against South Africa, starting Tuesday, is the countdown to next year’s T20 World Cup. The first T20I against South Africa is the 10th match in reverse order. Head coach Gautam Gambhir will have to tick several boxes in preparation.

One of these is captain Suryakumar Yadav, whose poor form has become increasingly difficult. From Yadav’s perspective, the good news is that the team is winning, while the other players are decimating the bowlers. This is why Yadav’s poor form is being overlooked, but it can’t be swept under the rug for long.

The Indian T20 captain hasn’t scored a single half-century in 15 innings since the start of this year, leaving him with a meager average of 15.33. This isn’t even half his overall career average (36.72). Surya bats at number three, and if one of the openers is dismissed early, Suryakumar’s responsibility doubles. Yadav didn’t elaborate on this issue at the first match’s press conference, but he needs to decode this problem as soon as possible.

The Indian team will play a five-match series against South Africa starting Tuesday, followed by a final series against New Zealand before the World Cup. This series, also a five-match series, begins on January 21st. Gautam Gambhir’s biggest challenge lies in maintaining his winning streak against these teams while also ticking all the necessary boxes before the World Cup. Gambhir will need to ensure a number of factors, including team composition, batting order, required form for batsmen, rhythm, and fitness for bowlers, before the mega event.

These points team India will have to improve:

  1. Suryakumar Yadav’s form
  2. Team Combination
  3. Team composure
  4. Batting order
