Gill was included in the Indian team for the five-match T20 series a few days ago. However, the BCCI clarified that his place would depend on his fitness. This meant that if he failed the fitness test, he would be removed. However, this will no longer be necessary. He will soon be officially released from the COE. The Sports Science and Medicine Department will provide clearance for him.
The series begins on December 9
Gill replaced Rohit Sharma as India’s ODI captain for the Australia tour. He was also named vice-captain of the T20 team. He will return to the role for the five-match T20 series against South Africa, starting December 9th. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to be played between February and March next year, and Gill’s presence in Team India is crucial for this.
