acti.ev+ platform
Sierra EV is being built on Tata’s new acti.ev+ platform. This platform will also be seen in Harrier EV and it is going to be a strong base for future electric trains. Its multi-layer skateboard design places the battery pack more easily, improving the range and speeding up charging.
The special feature of this platform is that it supports both RWD and AWD drive setups. This means that Sierra EV is going to become a versatile electric machine, not just an electric SUV. This platform better supports modern safety technologies like ADAS.

Production Journey
Both the Sierra EV and its ICE models will be produced in the Sanand production facility of Tata Motors. This is the same plant that Tata bought in 2023 from Ford India. The current capacity of this plant is 3 lakh units per year and it can be scaled up to 4.2 lakh units if needed.
The company is working on a plan to build both Sierra ICE and Sierra EV from the same plant, and this is why the production line for Sierra EV is being prepared in a high-capacity and high-tech manner. This is a step to strengthen Tata’s long-term electric strategy.
Battery and Power Output
Let me tell you that Tata has not yet revealed official specifications, but Sierra EV’s powertrain can be estimated by looking at industry reports and Tata’s EV strategy. It is likely to receive a 55 kWh battery pack, which will be able to deliver power of around 167 hp with the front-axle motor.
In addition, a large 65 kWh battery pack may also be available, which will generate power of about 238 hp with a rear-axle motor. It is being speculated on the same basis that both Sierra EV RWD and AWD will come with drivetrain options, allowing buyers to choose the model according to their needs and choice.

Design and Comfort
The positioning of the Sierra EV will be placed right in the middle of its ICE version. It will be placed between Curvv EV and Harrier EV so that in Tata’s EV lineup it can play the role of a perfect mid-segment premium SUV. Sierra’s iconic upright stance, large cabin space, and modern EV aesthetics will make this SUV extremely special.
