EPFO Update News – All PF employees are now awaiting the launch of EPFO 3.0. The question on everyone’s mind is when EPFO 3.0 will be launched. Once this service is launched, employees will be able to withdraw their PF funds conveniently through ATMs. They will also be able to use UPI.
This will significantly ease the PF employees. This means that the wait for funds after applying will be eliminated. Keeping this in mind, all employees want the new system to be implemented soon. This facility could be launched as early as January. However, the EPFO has not officially announced anything yet.
PF Withdrawals from ATMs Have Begun
Provident Fund withdrawals from ATMs have not yet begun. This facility was initially expected to launch in June 2025, but the launch has been delayed until 2025. Due to some technical issues, it was postponed for system testing. No official new date has been announced by the EPFO.
It is now expected to begin in January 2026. Speculations were rife that a surprise decision would be made at the October board meeting, but that did not materialise. The Board of Trustees meeting simplified the rules for partial PF withdrawals. Previously, there were 13 withdrawal rules. Now, these have been reduced to just three categories.
PF can be withdrawn in case of an emergency
Essential needs (illness, education, marriage)
Housing needs
Special circumstances
You will be pleased to know that the PF withdrawal limit has been increased to 10 times for education and 5 times for marriage. Previously, both withdrawals were only possible three times.
Furthermore, a minimum of 12 months of service will now be required for any partial withdrawal. Previously, these rules were different.
Every PF employee is required to maintain a minimum balance of 25% in their PF account. This ensures the security of their retirement funds and ensures they receive 8.25% interest.
