Small and marginal farmers will be able to sell paddy at the government support price this time. Each farmer can sell a minimum of 15 quintals of paddy at the support price. Small farmers are happy with the new rules introduced by the Food and Supplies Department for paddy sales this year.

Government paddy procurement has started from Monday. Farmers can now apply online from home to sell their paddy on the government portal. This year, the price has increased by ₹69 per quintal. According to the Food and Supplies Department, last year the support price was ₹2,320 per quintal, and this year it has increased to ₹2,389 per quintal.

A paddy farmer said, “I have been selling paddy through online booking since last year. Now, we don’t have to stand in long queues, which saves us a lot of time. I plan to sell my paddy at the government support price this year too. The paddy is ready in the field, and as soon as it is harvested, I will sell it online at the support price.”

Farmers Can Now Register Online and Get Direct Payment for Paddy Sales

Malda District Food and Supplies Department official said, “Registration for paddy purchase has already started. Paddy will be bought from farmers at every paddy purchase center. This year, the government has set a target of buying 3 lakh 10 thousand metric tons of paddy in the district.”

He also said, “A farmer can sell a maximum of 90 quintals of paddy at a time. There are 25 CPC centers and 10 mobile CPC centers in the district where farmers can sell their paddy. This time, paddy will be purchased from different parts of Malda district through 85 societies.”

Now farmers don’t have to stand in long queues. They can apply online from home to sell their paddy on the government portal. Farmers can register their names and choose a time slot for selling. They bring the paddy for sale at the chosen time. The payment is sent directly to the farmers’ bank accounts. This new system by the government has made the process easier and more beneficial for farmers.
