Ladli Behna Yojana: The Ladli Behna Yojana, launched by the Madhya Pradesh government, is an important step towards women’s empowerment. Currently, this scheme provides beneficiary women with a monthly assistance of Rs 1,500. Recently, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that this amount would be gradually increased, reaching Rs 3,000 per month by 2028. This means that the scheme’s funding will increase year after year, but this claim is not entirely true; it is being implemented gradually.

What is the current amount of the scheme?

Initially, under the Ladli Behna Yojana, women were given Rs 1,000 per month, which was gradually increased to Rs 1,250 and then Rs 1,500. Currently, this amount is Rs 1,500 per woman. In the next years (2026, 2027, and 2028), this amount will gradually increase to Rs 2,000, Rs 2,500, and finally Rs 3,000 per month, respectively. That is, while the claim is that women will receive Rs 3,000 per month in 2028, this is not yet a reality.

How many women are eligible?

This scheme is only available to women who are permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh. Ineligible women, such as those who are government employees, pensioners, or otherwise employed in a government job, are not eligible. To be eligible, women must be between 21 and 60 years of age, and their family’s annual income must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh. The scheme’s primary objective is to empower economically disadvantaged women.

How important is e-KYC?

E-KYC is essential to avail the benefits of the scheme. If you haven’t yet completed your account’s e-KYC, your funds won’t be credited directly to your account. You can complete this process through MP Online, CSCs, ration shops, or any other government-authorized center. Without e-KYC, you won’t be able to avail the benefits of the scheme, so complete the process immediately.

Although the monthly amount under the Ladli Behna Yojana is currently Rs 1,500, the government aims to increase this amount to Rs 3,000 by 2028. To achieve this, eligible women will need to periodically update their e-KYC. This scheme is a significant step towards the government’s economic empowerment of women, with periodic relief and new announcements. Women should complete their e-KYC as soon as possible and adhere to the eligibility criteria to fully benefit from this scheme.
