Bihar Election 2025 – The Bihar Assembly elections have reached a thrilling juncture, with just a few days left for the first phase of voting. PM Narendra Modi and CM Nitish Kumar have taken charge of the NDA’s campaign, while RJD leader and former Deputy CM of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, is campaigning relentlessly.
This election poses a prestige issue for both the NDA and the Grand Alliance. Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav has made a major announcement for Panchayat members. On Sunday, he held a press conference at his Patna residence, making a flurry of new promises. He told the people of Bihar that they had given the NDA 20 years, but he was asking for 20 months. He further stated that he would work to make Bihar number one.
A major announcement for Panchayat members
Former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav announced that if the Grand Alliance forms the government, he would double the honorarium for Panchayat and Gram Kachari representatives. He also announced that pension benefits and an insurance cover of ₹50 lakh would also be provided. This move is being considered a major relief for millions of public representatives in Bihar.
In addition, an increase in the honorarium and margin money for Public Distribution System (PDS) distributors has also been announced. These announcements are considered crucial for empowering and securing representatives working at the Panchayat level. If the Grand Alliance government is formed, Tejashwi Yadav will provide these benefits.
They will receive a lump sum of 5 lakh rupees.
In addition to Panchayat members, Tejashwi Yadav said that financial assistance of 5 lakh rupees will be provided to workers engaged in traditional occupations such as barbers, carpenters, potters, and blacksmiths. He said that this money will revitalise their skills and enable them to start new self-employment ventures. Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on the NDA government. He said that for 20 years, we have relied on an old, visionless government. Crime and corruption have reached their peak. Home Minister Amit Shah himself refused to set up industries here.
