Today, October 11, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch various new schemes worth over ₹42,000 crore for the country’s farmers. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has made a major announcement, stating that two key programs will be launched on this occasion: the ‘Pradhan Mantri Dhanya Krishi Yojana’ and the ‘Pulses Self-Reliance Mission’. This initiative will not only significantly increase farmers’ incomes but also strengthen Indian agriculture technologically, making the country self-reliant in terms of food security.
Pradhan Mantri Dhanya Krishi Yojana

The primary objective of the Pradhan Mantri Dhanya Krishi Yojana is to increase agricultural production and strengthen farmers’ incomes in 100 backward and low-productivity districts of the country. This groundbreaking scheme will undertake comprehensive improvements in infrastructure, including irrigation, storage, production, and agricultural credit. Strengthening infrastructure in backward districts will directly benefit farmers there. This initiative will ensure that modern agricultural technologies and financial support reach the most vulnerable areas.
Inauguration of Projects Worth ₹42,000 Crore
Under this grand event, more than 1,100 projects will be inaugurated and the foundation stone laid across the country, totaling over ₹42,000 crore. Special emphasis will be placed on the development of agricultural infrastructure, including animal husbandry, fisheries, and food processing. The Prime Minister will also honor Farmer-Producer Organizations (FPOs), cooperatives, and innovators in the agricultural sector on this occasion.
Pulses Self-Reliance Mission
The Pulses Self-Reliance Mission aims to eliminate the country’s import dependence and strengthen indigenous strength in pulses production. This ambitious mission aims to increase pulse production from the current 24.2 million tons to 35 million tons by 2030-31, a massive increase of approximately 40%. There are also plans to expand the production area. This massive target will significantly encourage farmers to cultivate pulses, leading to higher profits.

Digital Revolution in Agriculture
The event will also feature in-depth discussions on digitalization and financial infrastructure in the agricultural sector. This will ensure farmers’ easy access to services and financial facilities. This initiative will also help connect farmers to the global market and improve the quality of agricultural products.
This initiative by Prime Minister Modi is considered a crucial mission towards bringing beneficial changes in the agricultural sector and making the country self-reliant in terms of food security, which will take Indian agriculture to new heights in the coming years.
