New Delhi: The situation in Pakistan is currently deteriorating, leading to a worsening situation. Mobile and internet services have been completely banned in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The Pakistani government has done this to prevent the entry of religious group protesters. Internet services have been completely shut down to disrupt their communication.

There is no update on when internet services will be restored. In fact, the right-wing extremist organisation Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan had announced a march in Islamabad on Friday to protest the killings in Gaza.

Tight security arrangements

Strict security arrangements have been made to ensure that the situation does not escalate in both major cities. Police teams have been deployed. The Home Ministry has decided to seal all major roads. In addition, the telecom regulator, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, issued a letter ordering the suspension of mobile internet services in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

According to the letter sent to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, it was approved by Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Mobile internet services in both cities will be suspended indefinitely starting at 12 midnight tomorrow. Police sources informed that the decision to restrict internal and external routes and mobile internet services was taken in view of the protest march.

Section 144 imposed in Rawalpindi

Following the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s protest call, the Punjab Police raided the party headquarters in Lahore on Wednesday to arrest party chief Saad Hussain Rizvi. Violent clashes broke out between law enforcement officials and members of the radical Islamic party.
