Bihar Assembly Election 2025: The Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases, as announced by the Election Commission. Following this, political parties have intensified their preparations. According to political pundits, the Bihar Assembly elections are likely to be a direct contest between the NDA and the Grand Alliance. However, the Jan Suraj Party led by Prashant Kishore is also making all-out efforts.
The Grand Alliance and NDA constituents have yet to finalise a seat-sharing formula. Meetings continued on Wednesday, but yielded no results. Sources indicate that the RJD has proposed Tejashwi Yadav for the CM post. The RJD has also proposed three deputy CMs to its constituent parties.
RJD proposes three deputy CMs
Seat-sharing within the Grand Alliance for the Bihar Assembly elections has not yet been finalised. According to sources, the RJD has projected Tejashwi Yadav as its CM candidate. RJD has proposed a formula of three deputy CMs, one each from Congress and VIP. The number of seats for VIP and CPI(ML) could not be agreed upon today.
Due to Congress leaders being in Delhi, discussions could not take place. This RJD proposal also includes the appointment of one deputy CM each from RJD, Congress, and VIP. VIP has also staked a claim to the sitting seats of its allies. The party has claimed a total of 12 seats. However, VIP holds six seats. These seats are held by allies. These six seats include two each from RJD, Congress, and CPI. Consensus could not be reached on six other seats in today’s meeting.
How many seats does CPI(ML) want?
CPI(ML) has increased tensions by demanding 19 seats. The party wants to increase its seat count from the 2020 formula. Furthermore, the CPI and CPM are prepared to contest the elections based on the formula. The leaders of the Grand Alliance are now trying to reach a consensus on these crucial seats.
When will the voting take place?
The Election Commission has announced that the elections will be held in two phases. The first phase of voting will take place on November 6, 2025, while the second phase will be held on November 11. The counting of votes will take place on November 14, 2025.
