New Delhi: India won the Asia Cup trophy, which remains mired in controversy. BCCI Chairman Mohsin Naqvi left with the trophy, prompting the BCCI to launch a crackdown against him. As the controversy deepened, Naqvi handed over the trophy to the UAE Cricket Board. Indian cricket team captain Suryakumar Yadav was asked to take it from Dubai, but the BCCI took a tough stand and issued a threat.

The BCCI had threatened to take strict action if the trophy was not returned. Following the BCCI’s firm stance, Mohsin Naqvi apologised. The BCCI threatened to protest at the ICC meeting next month.

Additionally, Rajiv Shukla alleged that the players mistreated him and that the captain did not travel to Dubai to receive the trophy. Shukla advised Naqvi to choose between the Home Ministry and the PCB.

PCB Chief Apologises to BCCI

PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi backtracked after the BCCI’s protest. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has publicly apologised for the Asia Cup trophy controversy. In the ACC meeting, they stated that what happened should not have happened and invited captain Suryakumar Yadav to receive the trophy. Previously, Naqvi was accused of hiding the trophy in his office.

This delayed the team’s receipt of the trophy, forcing them to wait for an hour. Naqvi was criticised for this incident and has now apologised. The BCCI has taken the matter seriously and demanded his suspension at the ICC meeting next month.

India won the title match.

For information, the Indian cricket team defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the title match. This shocked fans and Pakistani cricketers. During the presentation ceremony, the Indian team refused to accept the trophy from PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, leading to widespread condemnation of the Pakistani team.
