Samsung Galaxy F17 specifications: Samsung has finally released the Galaxy F17 in India, adding another model to its Flipkart-only F-series. The smartphone is budget-oriented with a price tag under ₹15,000 and offers features like a flexible triple camera, Gorilla Glass Victus protection, a 5,000mAh battery, and up to six years of OS and security updates. It takes the place of the Galaxy F16, which was released a few months back in March.

Design, Durability, and Display
The Galaxy F17 takes Samsung’s standard F-series design but pairs it with resilience using Gorilla Glass Victus and IP54 dust and splash protection. There is a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen at the front with a 90Hz refresh rate, along with an Infinity-U notch. While Samsung’s AMOLED displays promise sharp graphics and rich colors, the U-shaped notch looks outdated compared to modern punch-hole screens. Nevertheless, Victus protection stands out here at this price range, presenting top-grade toughness that is hardly found in low-cost smartphones.
Versions and Pricing
The Galaxy F17 comes in two versions: the base 4GB RAM + 128GB storage one at ₹14,499 and a pricier 6GB RAM version at ₹15,999. Nearly all others in this segment now start with 6GB RAM, so Samsung’s decision to carry a 4GB model can look outdated. Because AI-focused features like Gemini Live and Circle to Search are pre-installed with the phone, customers may perceive that the 4GB version lacks the brawn to deliver silky-smooth performance.
Performance and Hardware
On the inside, the Galaxy F17 runs the Exynos 1330 chipset, a 5nm chip that also powered its previous generation. Effective as it can be, it lags behind its peers like the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 employed in the Tecno POVA 7 or Lava Play Ultra, both of which are within the same price category. Combined with a battery of 5,000mAh and 25W fast charging, the phone delivers reasonable endurance but falls behind its peers with charging speeds of 45W or more.
Software Longevity
One of the biggest strengths of the Galaxy F17 is its software support. The phone runs One UI 7 from Android 15 and gets six years of OS and security updates, the longest in the class. This gives a lot of reassurance to buyers looking for reliability and long life with what they purchase, with very few brands in the sub-₹15,000 segment having this sort of support.
Camera Setup
Camera features include a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 5MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. Having an ultra-wide lens is particularly rare in this category, so the F17 sets itself apart from most others. On the selfie side, the phone features a 13MP front camera. While not built as a camera-focused device, the jack-of-all-trades combination is convenient for everyday shooters.
Verdict: A Good but Unexciting Upgrade
The Samsung Galaxy F17 is a bit of a mixed bag. While it does have a strong build, Samsung’s tried-and-tested AMOLED screen quality, good triple-camera setup, and record six-year software updates, the old 4GB RAM starting variant, boring charging speeds, and average chipset mean that it cannot be the best all-rounder in its category.
