Toyota Hyryder CNG vs Maruti Grand Vitara CNG : Thanks to the high and ever-increasing rates of fuel, many buyers in India are choosing CNG vehicles, which offer better mileage at a lower running cost. The compact SUV segment holds two well-known CNG options: the Toyota Hyryder CNG and the Maruti Grand Vitara CNG. While both cars offer many similarities due to their common platform, their dissimilarities tend to nag one’s conscience before clinching the deal.

The front-end of the Toyota Hyryder CNG presents an imposing stance with its masculine character and bold design language. The front grille and the LED headlamps provide an upmarket presence. In stark contrast, the Maruti Grand Vitara CNG begs one’s attention with the fresh sophistication that flows into its well-defined lines, erect stance, and sporty flair. Both SUVs have the look and appeal, ruggedness being the forte of the Hyryder, while the Grand Vitara glows with a modern and vibrant charm.

Entering in CNG mode, the Hyryder CNG has a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a CNG kit directly in from the factory, the same as that in the Grand Vitara. Although the output in CNG mode is marginally lower than its petrol counterpart at 87 bhp, fuel efficiency is remarkable. They both claim about 26.6 km/kg on the ARAI scale, which makes them candidates for both daily commutes and long trips. Given that performance is nearly identical between the two, economy wouldn’t be a deciding factor in the choice either way.

The two dashboards are modern, equipped with quality upholstery and materials. Notable key features include a 9-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, as well as a digital instrument cluster. Comfort, however, is comparable across both models, while the CNG Hyryder wins slightly in terms of brand perception and durability of its cabin.

From the price point, the Maruti Grand Vitara CNG is on the cheaper side so it seems a better choice for buyers on a tight budget. However, secondary but equally important factors like after-sales service and brand value come into play for the Toyota Hyryder, which will be favoured by long-term potential buyers.
