Votes will be cast for the Vice President today, know when the counting will take place

New Delhi: Today is going to be a big day in Indian politics, because after the resignation of Jagdeep Singh Dhankar, voting is to be held for the post of Vice President. NDA has nominated CP Radhakrishnan for the post of Vice President, and India Block has nominated B Sudarshan Reddy. This means that after voting, the country will get its 17th Vice President today.

Jagdeep Singh Dhankar had resigned from his post, citing ill health, after which the election for the post of Vice President was decided. If we talk about the number game, it is in favour of NDA, but India Block is claiming to make its candidate win in the hope of cross-voting. Counting of votes will be done at 6 pm.

What time will the voting start

Voting for the post of Vice President will start at 10 am will continue till 5 pm. Votes will be cast in room number F-101, Vasudha. PM Narendra Modi will exercise his franchise for the 17th President at 10 o’clock. Before the voting begins, NDA MPs will attend a breakfast meeting at 9:30 am. Senior ministers of the central government will be seen hosting MPs from their respective states.

Along with this, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will also hold a breakfast meeting with MPs from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh at his residence. At the same time, Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will be responsible for hosting MPs from Rajasthan. Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai will host NDA MPs from Bihar. Counting of votes for this election is going to start at 6 pm.

What is the game number of the Vice President election

All the 543 members of the Lok Sabha and 233 elected and 12 nominated members of the Rajya Sabha will vote in the Vice President election. Currently, 781 MPs are authorised to vote due to 5 Rajya Sabha and 1 Lok Sabha seats being vacant.

Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS, 4 Rajya Sabha MPs) and Biju Janata Dal (BJD, 7 Rajya Sabha MPs) and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD, 1 Lok Sabha and 2 Rajya Sabha MPs) have asked their MPs to stay away from voting. This could bring the voter count to 767. The candidate who gets more than 50 per cent votes will be declared the winner.
