There is a lot of talk these days that Rohit Sharma should retire from ODIs after leaving T20Is and Tests. Many critics say he should step aside and give chances to young players. But Rohit wants to play till the 2027 World Cup. He is 38 now and will be 40 by then. Critics also question his fitness and say he is playing only ODIs.
In this situation, former India cricketer and Yuvraj Singh’s father, Yograj Singh, gave a strong reply to critics. He said India needs Rohit Sharma and if Rohit wants, he can play till the age of 45.
Yograj told News18 CricketNext: “People talk nonsense about Rohit Sharma. I always said Rohit will be my man. The way he bats, his innings are on one side and the rest of the world on the other. That is his class. You can say, ‘Rohit, we need you for 5 more years yaar.’ Please work more for your country, work on your fitness. Make him run 10 km every morning if needed. He has the class to play till the age of 45 if he wants to.”

Rohit Sharma has not played for India since the Champions Trophy. He will next be seen in action during the Australia tour.
Yograj Singh said, “I believe players should play domestic cricket. The more you play, the fitter you become. Who was the Man of the Match in the final? Rohit Sharma. So people should only talk about things they know. If you want to talk about his game and fitness, then first you should have played at some level. Are you not ashamed to talk like this?”
