The Union Health Ministry has updated the rules for uploading geo-tagged photos in the Central Government Health Scheme. The government makes many such big changes in the CGHS scheme to prevent fraud. The government wants to bring transparency to the billing and admission process for IPD and OPD services.

If these rules are not followed properly, the hospital claim may be rejected. In such a situation, big problems can arise for employees and pensioners. Rules for uploading photos have changed.
Let us tell you that in 2024, the government issued instructions that in IPD cases, the patient’s geo-tagged photo will have to be uploaded on the CGHS portal every day. And in OPD cases, the photo of the same day will also have to be uploaded. This step of the government was taken to prevent fake claims.
However, there were many problems in this photo upload process, which gave relief to the hospital and employees and pensioners. Because under the new rules, it has been told to upload the photo on such an occasion. Now it will not be necessary to upload the patient’s Geo Tagged, i.e. location photo on the portal every day during treatment. A copy of this new order will also have to be attached to every such case.

New rules for uploading photos
The government has updated the rules for uploading photos for hospitals, employees and pensioners, so that you have to keep these things in mind, so that there will be no problem in getting the claim.

- Now it will be mandatory to upload geo-tagged photos at the time of admission and discharge of the patient in non-referral IPD cases.
- If the patient is admitted to the hospital for more than 7 days, then a geo-tagged photo will have to be uploaded every 7 days.
- Geo-tagging of photos should be done automatically in the smartphone or tablet.
- Upload the captured photo on the CGHS portal at the same time or within 24 hours.
- The file size of a photo should not exceed 1MB, so that there is no network problem.
- Hospitals will have to keep all these photos saved for at least 90 days
