Aadhaar card, ration card and voter ID, which are popular documents for adding name in the voter list, are not considered proof of being a citizen of India. The opposition is also raising many questions. However, the Supreme Court has also advised the Election Commission to include Aadhaar and the ration card.

Documents required for Aadhaar card

The Government of India has been making Aadhaar cards for people for a long time. Now, almost all citizens have Aadhaar cards. An identity card, address proof, date of birth certificate are required to get an Aadhaar card.

Apart from these, documents like passport, ration card, PDS photo card, voter ID card, driving license etc. are considered valid for Aadhaar card. To prove the date of birth, you can use birth certificate or 10th mark sheet. You can also give school leaving certificate.

Aadhaar card is not proof of citizenship

You will also be surprised to hear this amazing thing. The Aadhaar card made on the basis of passport, date of birth, matriculation certificate with which a person can prove his citizenship in India is not considered proof of citizenship.

Aadhaar card contains biometrics along with personal information. Such as finger print, retina scanning. UIDAI, the organization of Government of India which issues Aadhaar, says that Aadhaar is the source of identity verification.
