The central government has taken a historic decision and announced the introduction of the PASTag pass. You will be free by getting this pass.
This will also eliminate the jam at the toll plaza, and you will be spared from having money deducted every day. There have been reports of more money being deducted from the FASTag on multiple occasions. This pass will be for a fixed time. Union Transport and National Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has given good news to drivers, announcing it himself on Wednesday. He has made this announcement on the social media platform X.
When will PASTag passes be made?
You must be wondering when FASTag passes will start being made. If Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is to be believed, this system is set to commence on August 15, 2025. Gadkari wrote on X – As a historic initiative, a FASTag-based annual pass worth ₹3,000 is being introduced from August 15, 2025.
This pass will be valid for one year from the date of activation or for up to 200 trips, whichever comes first. This pass has been specially designed only for non-commercial private vehicles (cars, jeeps, vans, etc.). He further wrote that it will make seamless travel possible on national highways across the country.
Where will the service be available?
Nitin Gadkari wrote in the post that a separate link will soon be available on the Highway Travel App and NHAI/MoRTH websites for the activation or /renewal of the annual pass. This will simplify and make the process easier. This policy aims to address the long-standing concerns about toll plazas located within a 60 km radius. It will also make toll payment seamless and effortless through accessible transactions.
Gadkari wrote in the post that the FASTag pass will also reduce waiting time. He said that by reducing waiting time, congestion, and eliminating disputes at toll plazas, the annual pass policy is committed to providing a faster, smoother, and better travel experience for millions of private vehicle drivers.
