The Indian EV market has just seen a massive upheaval. MG Motor India’s Windsor EV has not only made waves but also taken the crown of India’s best-selling electric vehicle. The firm’s latest revelation about sales and upgrades has left competitors—particularly Tata—running for cover.
Windsor’s Dominance in the EV Market
JSW MG Motor India declared that Windsor, the company’s best-selling electric car, achieved the 27,000 units sales milestone within a period of eight months. This milestone is not a number—it reflects the car’s increasing popularity outside metro cities. Its almost 48% of overall sales are generated from non-metro markets, which indicates the Windsor EV’s strong penetration into different markets.
Windsor Pro’s Huge Launch Impact
In May 2025, MG rolled out the Windsor Pro, an advanced version of the initial one. In a mere 24 hours, it recorded an astonishing 8,000 bookings. Such a demand surge demonstrates just how eagerly customers have been anticipating a bigger battery and better range. The Windsor Pro, now MG’s top EV offering in India, has become a crowd favorite very soon.
Battery Options and Driving Range
Windsor EV provides two variants of battery packs. The entry-level vehicle has a 38kWh battery, providing a 331-kilometer range when fully charged. The Windsor Pro takes it up a notch with a 52.9kWh battery, which provides a whopping 449 kilometers range. This is a good option for long-distance urban and semi-urban drives.
Performance and Driving Dynamics
No matter which one you opt for, both are equipped with a competent electric motor delivering 134bhp and 200Nm of torque. The drive is therefore smooth and responsive whether you’re driving in city traffic or cruising on motorways.
Interior and Infotainment
Inside, the Windsor does not falter. It boasts an enormous 15.6-inch infotainment system that is filled with smartphone integration. Other positives include a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, cruise control, and keyless entry. All of these features make the cabin experience both high-tech and easy to use.
