Majhi Ladli Bahana to Lakkhi Bhandar: In today’s politics, the new formula for winning elections is ‘half the population’, that is, keeping women happy is considered the biggest trick. Every political party now announces different schemes for women before the elections so that their vote bank can be strengthened. In the last one year, elections were held in many states of the country, and most of those states implemented or promised some special schemes to provide financial assistance to women. Delhi’s Mahila Samridhi Yojana

The BJP government in Delhi launched the ‘Mahila Samridhi Yojana’ for poor and needy women in December 2024. This scheme was in great discussion in the Delhi Assembly elections. On 8 March 2025, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched this scheme. Women who will be eligible in this will get financial help of ₹ 2500 every month. At present, the registration work for this has not started, but it is expected that women will be able to take advantage of it soon.

Subhadra Yojana of Odisha

The BJP government in Odisha has launched ‘Subhadra Yojana’ to empower women, named after Goddess Subhadra, sister of Lord Jagannath. This scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday on 17 September 2024. Its aim is to empower women economically and socially. Under this scheme, women who are eligible will be sent a total help of ₹ 50,000 in two installments in five years in their bank account, that is, about ₹ 10,000 annually. This amount is about ₹ 833 per month, which can be a big support in small business or needs.

Mainiya Samman Yojana of Jharkhand

This scheme of Jharkhand government is also proving to be very helpful for women. Chief Minister Hemant Sarkar launched the ‘Maiyaan Samman Yojana’ in June 2024, which can be availed by women between the ages of 18 and 50. Earlier the age started from 21 years, but later it was reduced. Initially, eligible women used to get ₹ 1000 per month, but from December 2025 it has been increased to ₹ 2500. This scheme is especially for women native to Jharkhand, SC / ST, backward classes and women living below the poverty line.

Maharashtra’s Mazhi Ladki Bahin Yojana

The Mahayuti government in Maharashtra launched the ‘Majhi Ladki Bahin’ scheme on 28 June 2024. In this, all women between 21 and 65 years are given an amount of ₹ 1500 every month. The government has kept a huge budget for this scheme, about Rs 46,000 crore, which is about 7.6% of the total budget of the state. About 2.34 crore women of the state are directly benefiting from this scheme. This scheme aims to provide financial assistance to women as well as give them respect and empower them in the society.

Ladli Bahana Yojana of Madhya Pradesh

In Madhya Pradesh, the process of providing cash assistance to women started with the ‘Ladli Bahana’ scheme. This scheme came into force in March 2023, in which women are given ₹ 1250 every month. Before the elections, six installments had reached the accounts of women, due to which this scheme also showed its effect in the electoral victory. So far, more than 1.2 crore women in the state have benefited from it.

Mahatari Vandan Yojana of Chhattisgarh

On the lines of Madhya Pradesh, the BJP government in Chhattisgarh also started the ‘Mahatari Vandan Yojana’ in January 2024. Under this scheme, 70 lakh women are included, who get an amount of ₹ 1000 every month from the government. An annual budget of Rs 4900 crore has been kept for this. This scheme helps poor and needy women so that their life can be better.

Lado Laxmi Yojana of Haryana

The Haryana government has also started ‘Lado Laxmi Yojana’ for women, in which there is a provision to send ₹ 2100 per month to the account of needy women. Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini has announced a budget of Rs 5000 crore for this scheme. The application process for this is going to start soon.

Pyari Behan Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana of Himachal Pradesh

The Congress government in Himachal Pradesh started the ‘Pyari Behan Sukh Samman Nidhi Yojana’ in February 2024. Under this scheme, eligible women are given a pension of ₹ 1500 every month. So far more than eight lakh women have applied for this scheme, out of which only about 31 thousand women have got the benefit. The government has spent Rs 20.99 crore for this so far.

Karnataka’s Grihalakshmi Yojana

The Congress government in Karnataka has launched the ‘Grihalakshmi Yojana’ from August 2023. In this, ₹ 2000 is deposited every month in the account of eligible women. About 1.28 crore women of the state will benefit from this scheme.

West Bengal’s Lakkhi Bhandar Yojana

In West Bengal, the Mamata Banerjee government launched the ‘Lakkhi Bhandar’ scheme in February 2021. In this, eligible women are given help of ₹ 1200 or ₹ 1000 on a monthly basis. This scheme remains a source of relief especially for economically weaker women.
