There is good news for central government employees. The Modi government has given a gift to the government employees working in the Central Armed Police Force and Assam Rifles. Under this, retiring personnel from constable to sub-inspector will be given honorary rank one rank above their last day of retirement without any financial or pension benefit. The honorary rank will be exactly one level above the retiring rank.
According to a circular issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on May 30, 2025, personnel below officer rank in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles, i.e. from constable to sub-inspector rank, will be given one rank higher honorary status before retirement, giving an opportunity to increase the rank just before retirement. However, this honorary promotion does not carry any financial or pension benefit.
Eligibility Criteria
- Personnel must fulfill all the promotion criteria at the time of retirement.
- The personnel should have good and clean service record.
- The evaluation of the last 5 years of the personnel’s APAR should be at least ‘Good’.
- The employee should not have been given any major punishment in the last 5 years.
- The integrity of the personnel should be beyond doubt.
- Departmental investigation and vigilance (DE/Vigilance) clearance of the personnel is mandatory.
Terms and Conditions
For conferring an honorary rank there must be a recommendation from the relevant commanding officer.
The honorary post will be granted to the personnel on the day of retirement.
No financial or pensionary benefits will be payable with the honorary post.
Standard post will be granted only where the post to be granted exists in the cadre to which the personnel belongs.
The inter-se seniority of the personnel will remain unaffected by granting honorary post.
