Who can avail of the benefits of this scheme

Some terms and conditions have been prescribed to avail the benefits of this scheme, which are mandatory to be followed:

The girl must be a permanent resident of India. This scheme is only for Indian citizens.

The age of the girl should be at least 18 years and the age of the boy should be 21 years at the time of marriage. This is an important condition to prevent child marriage.

Under this scheme, marriage is mandatory only in mass marriage ceremonies. Private marriage will not be allowed under this scheme. Its purpose is to reduce wedding expenses and promote community participation.

Divorced women are also eligible for this scheme, provided they have a valid divorce certificate. This is an important provision to give them a second chance.

It is mandatory to apply at least 15 days before the marriage. This ensures that the application process can be completed on time.
