Pictures and videos of Aishwarya instantly went viral on social media. Aishwarya looked absolutely beautiful in a white saree. The saree had a long pallu on the left and a flowing lace train on the right, which made her look even more glamorous.
She greeted the photographers with a namaste and gave a cute smile. She was also seen waving and blowing flying kisses to fans as she walked down the stairs of the Grand Palace.
This was Aishwarya's 22nd Cannes red carpet walk and she attended as the global ambassador of L'Oreal Paris. Aishwarya made her grand debut at Cannes in 2002 with the premiere of 'Devdas'.
Growing dominance of Indian cinema
This year too, Indian cinema and Indian talent are being seen in Cannes. Neeraj Gheywan's film 'Homebound' has been selected in the 'Un Certain Regard' category.
The film had its world premiere on Wednesday, where it received a 9-minute standing ovation. 'Homebound' stars Ishaan Khattar, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles.
The cast and crew of the film also walked the red carpet together and also attended a photocall session for the film.
Satyajit Ray's classic film 'Aranyer Din Ratri' was screened under the 'Cannes Classics' section. Sharmila Tagore and Simi Grewal were present at the screening, and the film received a standing ovation.
Filmmaker Wes Anderson presented the film, which has been restored with the help of the Film Heritage Foundation.
This year Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia is part of the main competition jury. This is a return to Cannes for Payal, who created history last year by winning the Grand Prix for her debut feature film 'All We Imagine as Light'
