According to mythology, a demon named Mahishasura usurped the throne of Devraj Indra. Mahishasura wanted to rule the heaven. Knowing his desire, the gods became worried, after which they approached the Tridev i.e. Brahma, Vishnu and Shankar for their problem. Hearing the tale of Mahishasura’s terror, the Tridev became angry. Due to this anger, energy was generated from the mouths of all three. Maa Chandraghanta was born from this energy. To end Mahishasura, Lord Shankar gave his trident to the mother and Lord Vishnu gave his chakra. After this, all the gods and goddesses also handed over their weapons to the mother. Indradev gave his bell to the mother. After this, Maa Chandraghanta killed Mahishasura and protected the gods.
